Our expertise and experience with well characterization allow us to perform several different tests within wells to assess and identify hydraulic and aquifer characteristics during pumping. These include the response of the aquifer to different pumping rates, its influence on the concentration of the analytes of concern, drawdown and recovery, and pumping influence upon other near wells. You can find more details about the aquifer tests BESST offers below.
An 8-hour step-drawdown test can be performed to investigate the pumping performance and efficiency of a well under controlled discharge conditions. The step-drawdown test monitors water levels as measured against select, targeted pumping rates in order to determine optimal operation of the well.
An extended, constant rate pumping test (typically 24 - 36 hours) can provide drawdown information and an estimate of hydraulic properties of the aquifer.
